Why Would Sleep Appliances Need a Dental Warranty?

We have had this question from a few dentists who provide sleep appliances to their patients. “The manufacturer already covers this, so why do I need an additional warranty?”

We asked one of our dental sleep experts to give their advice on why their practice uses Dental Warranty.

Dr. Kent Smith suggests all dentists screen for insomnia and snoring to check for obstructive sleep apnea.  Here’s what he has to say:

A Good Nights Sleep Is Not Guaranteed

You may be among the 30% of the population who has insomnia – well, there’s a 30% chance you are, anyway. What you may not know - studies show that around 90% of insomnia moments are related to sleep disordered breathing. The best study to date says that 24% of males and 9% of females suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Oh, and that “sleep efficiency” thing? Just because you sleep from 11 to 7 does not mean you sleep 8 hours. A good nights sleep….is not guaranteed. Numerous annoyances are battling with your sleep efficiency, which suffers more as you age.

unable to sleep in bed because of snoring partner

Are you screening for insomnia and snoring? I believe dentists are the gatekeepers for getting the 90% of OSA sufferers screened and diagnosed, so if you are not yet doing this, please seek out some help in doing so.

If you are treating OSA, you may be disappointed with either the length of the warranty that is offered by the manufacturers or by the amount of reimbursement by medical insurance. As a dentist who actively practices dental sleep medicine, I have found that Dental Warranty offers an answer to both. I find that patients appreciate a longer and better warranty, and I appreciate the extra income and knowledge that if their dog eats their appliance, I will be getting a nice check, not worrying about having to charge my patient again.

Honestly, I have no idea why a dentist practicing dental sleep medicine would NOT use Dental Warranty. Can someone help me here? After all, a good nights sleep is not guaranteed.

But coverage from Dental Warranty will help your patients sleep easy.
